Establishment of a Pilot Paralegal Project at the Juba National Prisons

As a result of the project, the number of inmates has reduced from 4000 to 2680 inmates and also the number of remands have also reduced from 2608 to 1708 remands, and this project has made our work much easier compared to the past where there were delays in the process and increasing cases backlog in the courts, causing congestion in the Juba National Prison ...."

Establishment of 10 Victims’ Support Groups in 7 Counties of WES

"….. It is an opportunity for me to come for this meeting and I see it very important to collaborate with judges and the prison officers in providing legal aid. I did not know that I was doing legal aid as this morning I released one inmate from the prison and I just realized that it’s very much a part of legal aid. We the judges are happy and ready to collaborate and help the prison officers where necessary. I have benefitted a lot from this dialogue meeting with stakeholders…"

Establishment of VSG farmers’ Association in Yambio

"…..The issue of bringing inmates for trial had been a challenge, as neither the Court nor the Prison Services were consistently bringing them before us. We were often unsure which inmates were still in prison. However, with the 77 cases brought last week, I was able to release all of them. This collaboration is crucial, and we are eager to continue working together to ensure a smoother process and better outcomes for all involved."

Supporting the GBV and Juvenile Courts in the Awareness and Promotion of Human Rights and Ending Violence Against Women and Girls

"Before REDO's intervention, the GBV and Juvenile Courts in Juba faced poor case management, low morale among staff, and a lack of survivor confidence in the justice process. REDO conducted regular court monitoring, repaired essential infrastructure, and ran impactful radio campaigns to raise awareness and promote human rights. As a result, survivors felt safer, court users reported improved accountability, and over 13,000 people were reached with vital information on justice and GBV."
