The Road to Economic Development Organisation (REDO) uses its CSO voice to advocate for Rule of Law in South Sudan through leading by example through adhering to the highest standard of integrity and accountability. REDO mentors communities through regular training and capacity building programs .on the rule of law, human rights, anti-corruption and Good Governance.
Constitutionalism is a component of Rule of law. Hence, the Organisation implements Civic Education and awareness raising on chapter five of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan-mainly the Constitution Making Process Act2022, the Commission for Truth, Reconciliation and Healing (CTRH) and the Compensation and Reparation Authority (CRA) and Elections. These projects aim at creating Constitutional awareness among people in South Sudan.
Its REDO’s mission to implement project on Transitional Justice, which aims at initiatives of strengthening the Judiciary and promoting Access to Justice. REDO believes in an independent and transparent Judiciary as a critical element of Rule of law to achieve separation of powers as means to enhance Good Governance-Rule of Law/Security and Human Rights.
Importantly, REDO engages with stakeholders such as the government agencies like the ministry of Justice and Constitutional mainly the Legal Aid division in the ministry while providing paralegal services to the beneficiaries, pro bono services on legal and protection issues. The Organisation runs a Paralegal clinic at Juba National Prison through which it offers legal Aid to diverse groups of vulnerable members and monitors compliance with the rule of law.

Core to achieving the Economic Development envisaged by the Organisation is REDO’s Food Security and livelihood Program. REDO’s Food security & Livelihood activities steer communities towards a food secured and nutritious life to achieve peace. We therefore focus on:
Organizing households into farmers groups, associations and cooperative to give them the power of compounding efforts. The life of REDO beneciery farmer starts in a farmer field school where he/she is trained in different crops production systems to the harvest, post-harvest, storage to the selling of her/his produce.
Through the Organisational distribution of agricultural inputs such as tool, quality seeds and fertilizers, our farmers improve on their crop and seed production that help them gradually transition from subsistence farming to Agri-business.
REDO works with various farmers’ groups to add value to their produces in their own contexts. Through our value addition programs, our beneficiaries have been able to process their cassava and maize to floor; conserve their perishable good like legumes, other vegetables and fruits for up to 30 days.

To help South Sudan recover and re-emerge on the path to unity and sustainable peace REDO addresses the lack of communication among the community members, which continues to foster anger, hatred, and misunderstanding. Bringing communities together to dialogues reconcile and address their grievances.
Our Public awareness campaigns, Psychosocial Support and trauma hearing have helped mitigate conflicts and bring peace among communities where conflicts and violence were boiling.
REDO uses its social media presence and accounts to preach peace and engage with different groups on diffusing hate speeches among the youth and rival parties
Core to our peace building activities is provision of livelihood and Income Generating activities opportunities as means to addressing chronic poverty and humanitarian crisis in the country.

The Road to Economic Development Organisation undertakes preparedness action on helping communities overcome avoidable illness and preventive measure through sensitization, Counselling, home based care and community health promotions and health education.
Though we take into consideration the vulnerability of the opportune disease, curative medicine to keep the community from the health issues, REDO main focus is on preventive measures that are key to better health strategic actions and measure to be undertaken not forgetting disease surveillance.

In a bid to contribute towards the reduction of the unemployment challenges faces by vulnerable youth and women is South Sudan. REDO offers specialized Education with focus on women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Entrepreneurship and Technical and Vocational Education to marginalized groups as primary targets
Under this portfolio, REDO Economic Empowerment projects include poultry and animal husbandry- Piggery. Unit to REDO is its ‘’Roofing Solution’’ where the organisation trains beneficiaries in manufacturing roofing tiles from soil clay as an alternative durable solution to an expensive import of iron sheets from neighbouring country for roofing in South Sudan.
A strong member of the Education Cluster in South Sudan, the Organisation supports Education in Emergency through distribution of scholastic materials, teachers’ trainings and provision/construction of Temporary Learning Shelters and Semi-Permanent classrooms
The Organisation has record of accomplishment in conduct Civic Education and awareness on various topics including the Chapter5 of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan, Constitution Making Process Act2022, Elections, the presence and roles of the GBV & Juvenile Courts in South Sudan and many other Human Rights topics.
Collaborate with REDO to help reduce the illiteracy level of South Sudanese communities and achieve sustainable Peace and Development through an empowered and skilful citizens working for the development of their communities and the Republic of South Sudan at large.

Massive awareness raising on the effect of climate change and its mitigation measures among the communities of South Sudan remains REDO ‘mission  As REDO we recognize that climate risk cannot be reduced to zero, hence our support to the government take decisive action to help households and businesses manage them. REDO aspire to nurture tolerance, hero-ship, sensitivity for conflict hotspots and acceptance of Differences of interest in societies in an attempt to parent a society where conflict is resolved pacifistic.

What we do to build Peace in South Sudan

  • Strengthen the capacity of women and youth to participate in leadership by promoting their active and meaningful engagement in conflict resolution processes.

  • Provide peace education and raise awareness in communities and schools about the dynamics of conflict, methods of resolution, and the importance of peace in society.

  • Develop and accelerate peace initiatives, ensuring their progress through localized collaboration with communities and partners, tailored to local dynamics and context.

  • Support and facilitate reconstruction, economic recovery, and compensation for victims whose properties, infrastructure, and belongings were damaged during conflicts.

  • Facilitate negotiations and advocate for social cohesion among conflicting groups through inclusive dialogue, reconciliation, counseling, healing, and the promotion of peaceful coexistence.

  • Organize vulnerable survivors of conflict into Victim Support Groups at the community level to facilitate tailored dialogues on human rights abuses, provide psychosocial support, and offer referrals to other essential services.

The Road to Economic Development Organisation prioritizes three ways of addressing the main underlying causes of poverty and social Injustices that we see all around the world: Gender inequality, poor governance and unequal power relations. REDO then employs the strengthening of gender equality and women’s voice, promoting inclusive governance and increasing resilience.
REDO helps vulnerable women and children access justice primarily at the GBV & Juvenile Courts in Juba, Special Protection Units (SPUs) and Community Policing Centres. Capacity building of women and youth leaders to prevent, protect and address GBV and Child abuses is job number one for REDO staff and management.
Across the Greater Equatoria Region, the Organisation provides legal Aid and Protection to women in businesses (in the main markets) helping them to navigate legal issues such as business registrations, taxes, GBV and protection risks.
REDO engages authorities of cases of children in conflict with the law, ensuring the children access justice and have their Rights protected. Support our work towards a just and safer community for women and children in South Sudan
